April Pack Hike

Our April pack hike will be at Evansburg State Park. We will meet at the playground along Mayhall Road near the Friedt Visitor Center. This will be a relatively short hike along the Mill Race loop trail. Including the short walk from the playground to the trailhead, it is about 1.5 miles. The trail itself is relatively easy, although there are some uneven areas and some obstacles like downed trees across the trail.

This hike is a recruiting event, so bring a friend or three! Guests should have a parent or guardian with them. We will start the hike at around 1:30, but will be meeting earlier to give guests some time to ask questions or get to know the pack, and the kids can play on the playground. I plan to be there by around 12:30. If you just want to come for the hike it’s not necessary to come earlier than 1:30, but the more the merrier.

Make sure to bring water bottles, snacks, and dress appropriately for the weather. Always be sure to check for ticks when you get home!

Additional COVID-19 related requirements:
1) Do not attend if you feel sick or have any symptoms including cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, diarrhea, fever or temperature greater than or equal to 100 deg. F
2) We will be following all physical distancing and sanitizing guidelines set-forth by the PA Department of Health and the CDC, including wearing face coverings and maintaining a six foot physical separation.

Reminder – scouts will receive a hiking stick after completing 4 pack hikes. Additionally, they will receive patches for every 10 miles hiked on pack hikes.
